Christmas Card Designs.....

So since we got rained out of our shoots last weekend, I needed to post something! Here are some of the Christmas Cards I designed. One thing I'm trying to do this year is not be so much of a perfectionist. I wanted to post these at Christmas but I ran out of time, so normally I wouldn't post them at all! But I'm posting them anyways-even if it's just for the archives.

I REALLY love designing. It's a lot of fun for me. It gives me another outlet for all my creative energy.

Horizontal Post Cards, 2 sided:

1st Baby's Christmas Card.

A Thank you/Christmas Card.

Vertical 2 sided:

Photo Card:

4 sided cards, front, back, inside:

My sister's cute fam!

Christmas/New Address Card. We used pics of their new home and address.

These next two are some of my all time fave designs, probably because it was a team effort. They gave me most of the wording and so many ideas that I just brought it to life. And I LOVED how they turned out!! I still can't figure out if it was more fun for me to design or for them to give them out! They said they got tons of complements and some people even cried. Wow!

This one is a large format 5x7 card so it opens up to 14 in. Pretty neat. This reads front, back and inside.

The one is a regular 5x7 4 sided card.

Did I give enough examples or what?!

Nice Words from Candy + Dave!

So while we were recommending our friends on our blog, we got a little nice surprise in our inbox with some wonderful recommendations from our clients! It's so awesome to hear nice words from people we love to work with. We really can't tell you how great it makes us feel. Like I always say, We heart our clients!! This is why we do this.

Dave & Candy, Day of the Dead Wedding, had this to say:

"Dana and Jeremy were GREAT, and we feel SO fortunate to have crossed paths with them. Their style of photography and album layout is so unique, classy and original, especially for weddings and events which can easily go down the cliche road if one isn't careful. We were so pleased and impressed with how many great candid shots they captured at our wedding - they complement the more traditional posed shots very well and really bring us right back to the best day of our lives each time we see them. Oh, and I should mention that there is no forfeit of professionalism for their talent and eye for a great photo. They are reliable, easy to get a hold of and coordinate with and were also very friendly from start to finish. I definitely wouldn't have taken out as much time to rave about them if my wife and I had anything short of an outstanding experience!"

Can I just say, Wow! Thank you so much!!

Riann & Daylan's Wedding...

Finally I have a break from the Christmas Craziness to post this blog!! This was our last wedding of the year and it was a great one! Such a beautiful couple and wonderful day. First we took the majority of the pictures at The Ritz Carlton where the bride was getting ready. Then we headed over to have the ceremony and reception at Castle Green. We had such a great time with the couple and their guests!

Also we want to thank Gianna and Company for putting on such a fab event!

Cool shoes.

Bryon & Darci's Adorable Favors....

A couple weeks ago I posted a blog about this Wedding Project I was working on.
Now I can post the whole thing! A lot of our blog stalkers (hehehe) saw it at the wedding but for those of you who haven't, here it is. It's a cute little book Bryon and Darci gave out as favors at their Wedding.

When we first met with Bryon and Darci they had a whole awesome idea for this book and shoot. We couldn't do everything we wanted due to time but I think the finished product came out so amazing. And what Bryon wrote is so great I cried when I first read it.

The favors.

Bryon & Darci, Wedding at Southcoast Winery....

For the second amazing wedding of last weekend, we shot at another beautiful winery, South Coast Wineryin Temecula. It was originally supposed to be at Los Willows in Fallbrook but the fires did some damage so it was moved. And it worked out perfectly.

It's really fun to do a wedding with people that you've known for a long time. What's not fun is when your husband is an obnoxious groomsmen! Other than Jeremy's antics, it was such a beautiful day. I just kept thinking about our wedding (and why I married such a crazy!) since so many of the same people were there! Same pastor married us, same flower girls, some of the same bridesmaids and groomsmen. It was fun!

It was so hard to choose but here's a few faves.

The dress.

The vineyard outside the room.

Cool hairpiece.

Cute girls. Make-up by amymarieclarke@yahoo.com and Hair by hairbymelody@yahoo.com

The Guys.

Flowers by Murrieta Flower Girl.

Bryon and his girls.

I love how Darci's laughing and Bryon's crying!

Touching moment before the ceremony where Dad prays for his son.

He took a camera up with him in his other hand.

He shot this from up there.

Pretty place.

Communion with the new family.

Walking away to their new life together (it may sound cheesy but it's true!)

3 Fave things:1.Flare 2.Swirly Things 3. My new Jules Bianchi presets!

Another Black and white preset via Jules.

New Happy Family!

Me and some hot groomsmen. (Thanks Emily!)

Proud Papa.

A very familiar sight. This very thing happened at our wedding!

She had the most fun dancing with Levi!

Shaking it with the girlies.

Again, it's "That Guy" at the wedding.

A special thanks to Rosana, the coordinator from Los Willows. You did a fantastic job!

Day of the Dead Wedding....

What an amazingly perfect wedding at the Wien's Family Cellars. You may remember Dave and Candy from our Death of the Single Life shoot. I had no idea that session went so perfectly with their wedding. Such great details, amazing bride, groom, everything. And everyone wore black. Very cool. So check out some pictures already!

So hard to choose because it was a perfect day. Really.

They sent out their amazing invitation in a coffin box!

Putting on her cool black shoes. I love her hands.

She gave him this cool print, while he got her a bat skeleton!

Seeing each other for the first time.

Love the black ribbon.....

....and spider hairpiece.

Can you believe it came right of the camera like this?! Yeah right!

I love this one.

Pumpkins.

They're really the sweetest couple.

Amazing veil #2.

This was way too funny not to post!

In the vineyard.

Lots of candles and cool centerpieces.

The picks read "Candy Picked Dave" and "Dave Picked Candy."

Cake Toppers. Her sister made them!

Thank you Dave and Candy for sharing your perfect day with us! You guys are amazing. And thank you Cassie for referring us to them!!

Eric & Morgan, Wedding at Veranda's.....

Saturday we shot a lovely wedding with such a wonderful couple, Eric and Morgan (aka. the Gabe/Janise and Derek/Jen "cop crew". The wedding took place at the cute Veranda's in Manhattan Beach.

Loved her shoes and dress!

Enjoying a cigar at the hotel.

Their chunky rings.

The cute little favors.

I love the fall flowers and the cute little girls.

Her veil was blowing all over and we love that. How cute is the little girl trying to hold it?

I love when this happens!

Part of Morgan's vows to Eric said that his smile can light up the whole room and I couldn't agree more!

And her smile is so beautiful too!

A little moment during the ceremony.

Night-time flare.

How cute are their tables? Each one has a different name.

Taken by the lovely Jen. I love our faces!

The groom.

The Castle:

This one was taken by our other bride named Tiffani. She came with us to see what we do, was a great help and took lots of cool photos!

Janise & Gabe at The Christmas House......

Janise and Gabe, aka. "cop stache" (that's what Jeremy calls him) finally got committed! What is with couples that have known each other forever lately!? They met in high school and then started dating a little bit after that. (No one has us beat though (we met in JR High). The wedding took place at the adorable Christmas House in Rancho Cucamonga. It's a super cute old fashioned house. And it was nice to be in the house for part of the day since it was over 100!

We also want to thank Jen & Derek for the referral. You guys are awesome!

Here's some of our faves:

I couldn't help myself. Cool mirror in the bathroom.

The bridal room with the pretty flowers.

More fun with the room.

Cop Stache with his T shirt and jacket.

I love this moment. The Best Man is Janise's brother and that's how they met.

The cute flower girl watching the bride come down the aisle.

Death of the Single Life....

Jeremy and I had this idea for a shoot and then we found the perfect couple when we met Candy and Dave. Dave is the lead singer to Throwdown (awesome hardcore metal band) and is finally back from touring The Warped Tour. And Candy is a gorgeous, quiet girl with great style. And we're on the same page, which makes everything more fun! We are all so excited that we finally get to do this shoot that we've been planning for so long!

This is our art project; you can interpret. It also works as great "photo-therapy" for us.

I also made a slideshow if you want to see more:

It was a really beautiful wedding with lovely people. Here's a few that I like:

I was with the groom as he got ready.

Right before the first look.

I love orchids!

The cute couple:

I love how excited they all are to walk around the corner.

That's so perfect for them since they have known each other for a long time. Everything and everyone was so beautiful. We were so happy to be a part of the day. And the pictures came out great! It was really hard to pick just a few for the blog. I'll have to make a slideshow once I look through all of them!

Jessica and Andrew.....

We shot this cute couple's wedding on Saturday. They are such a sweet and nice couple. They dated for seven years and were so excited to finally get committed! I managed to glance through the millions of pictures (okay I'm exaggerating a little) to find a few that stood out to me.

Love light and veils!

Jessica, her twin sister and her mom. I love this moment.

Love it! Andrew looks so happy.

Jessica and Andrew:

This is our tribute to our favorite little buddy. He was adamant about taking a picture with Valerie. (The one in the middle. His mom told us he has a crush on her and he said "What?!" and was so embarrassed. ) He cracked us up!!

We have the best clients!

Jeremy got so many great dance moves!

They served ice cream with the cake. Yum!

Thank you Jessica and Andrew. We hope you're having fun on your honeymoon!!

Michelle & David Goodies...

Sometimes there's just not enough time to blog everything! So this is part two of Michelle and David's first blog.

The Slideshow. Aren't they just the cutest?! I just had to make a slideshow of their wedding to their song, God Only Knows. He actually sang it to her as a surprise at the reception and it was great! Click here for Michelle & David's Slideshow.

We got the film back from Michelle and David's wedding and we love how it turned out:

This one is from the 35mm camera. I really like this moment as he's waiting.

From the Beloved Holga:

This one is really interesting. It's actually a double negative. You can see more of them walking away.

And how cool is this? They gave us our very own boxes of chocolates with our names on them!

Michelle had this to say about us and I wanted to share:
"Dana and Jeremy are the best. Both my husband and I love them as people and as photographers. It was great having them at the wedding. They put us at ease and we actually wanted them as guests! If anyone can make people look good in photos it is them." Aww. We heart them!!

Tiffani & Garret, Wedding at Coyote Hills Country Club.....

This is going to be a long one! We had such a wonderful time with Tiffani, Garret and their family and friends! It was so great to know everyone already from the rehearsal and shower. It really felt like we were shooting our good friend's wedding. We love them! We've never cried so much! Both of us were in tears half the day. They're the biggest sweethearts ever. The wedding party was crazy (there's even a questionable photo Jeremy took of the guys I can't even blog!!)

I started the day with Tiffani getting ready and Jeremy was with Garrett.

Jeremy took pictures of all the guy's tats:

And the guys.

One of the most unique and pretty dresses I've ever seen.

So Tiff!

Jeremy got this cool shot of Tiffany and her mom right before they meet her dad to walk down the aisle.

They have a moment while their moms light the unity candles.

Making us all cry by singing "Grow Old with You" from The Wedding Singer.

Love her flowers!

So Garret! He's always doing something silly to make us laugh!

The amazing cake with feathers.

Cake fun!

I laughed so hard when I saw my face! I was thinking, "how am I done with my shot first when I started later than all of them?!"

The reception was a blast. These people know how to party! And Tiffani told us to put our cameras down so we could party too (we didn't put the cameras down but we did enjoy the party). So there's a couple of pics of us in here! We have the best job ever!

Tiffani and Garret are a super cute couple of ours that really appreciates what we do. Tiffani LOVES pictures and wants them for everything! So I shot her shower a couple of weeks ago and we both shot the rehearsal this evening. Their wedding is tomorrow and we can hardly wait! Everyone in the wedding is great!

Here's a little collage from the shower. So much girl fun!!

I loved this one of them walking down the aisle. They'll be married when they do this tomorrow!

She made the tags and got us gifts!! I got one of my fave CAO Moontrance cigars and some awesome headbands (how did she know?) and Jeremy got one of his fave cigars Romeo y Julieta and some awesome vintage prints of cigars. How thoughtful!

At Taps we went outside for a little shoot.

They were playing one of Garret's songs by Bob Marley, No Woman, No Cry.

Dancing.

Sunday we shot Michelle and David's wedding at the beautiful Walt Disney Concert Hall. This couple has amazing style and great taste in music and food too! We just loved hanging out with them for their Ringed Session and were really looking forward to their wedding. And it did not disappoint. Michelle wore a gorgeous old Hollywood style Monique Lhillier dress and David wore a cool red tie with red socks to match! It was such a great day and we were so happy to be a part of it. They even gave us favors with our names on it! We really do have the best couples ever!

Chinese Tea Ceremony, Wedding at the Fullerton Arboretum.......

Last Saturday we shot a Chinese Tea Ceremony and Wedding on one of the hottest days of the year so far! We started at the house at 9:30am for the Tea Ceremony and headed over to the Fullerton Arboretum for the western ceremony, then to the Hilton in San Gabriel! John and Holly were exausted and only had two hours of sleep. But they were great sports and so fun to be around.

I just love Chinese goodies. In fact at our wedding we used the happiness symbol on our invites, Chinese lanterns, parasols and to go boxes..

Double Happiness Symbol.

They like us!

Last week Pictage asked some of our brides if they would like to leave a comment to recommend us. It was so nice to hear all these nice words so I thought I would share!

Liz & Andres said:
"My husband and I would and will recommend Dana Grant Photography to everyone. They are great to work with and have lots of new ideas. Our families were so pleased and we are excited to have such beautiful pictures to last a lifetime! Our memories were captured perfectly."

Carrie & Ryan said:
"Our experience with Dana and Jeremy was perfect! They are a pleasure to work with and they both are very skilled, they really know how to capture the moments as they unfold. We feel very fortunate that they were able to photograph our destination wedding."

Niki & Mike said:
"My husband and I were very fortunate to have had Dana and Jeremy shoot at our wedding. Not only were our pictures beautiful, but working with them was a lot of fun. It was very easy to get along with them which made it easy for us to feel comfortable in front of the camera. They actually got pictures of my husband smiling, normally he is making a stupid face when others take his picture. They are such a sweet couple and my husband and I are so happy that we had a chance to get to know them and to have them capture our special day. Thank you so much!" Mike and Niki

It's very important for us to get to know our clients and they usually become our friends. We love our clients so much and to hear all these nice words from them make us so happy! We love our job! Thank you Casstros, Davies and Hernandez!

A wonderful day....

On May 18, Jeremy and I shot Ellie & Matt's wedding at the Wayfarer's Chapel. It was special place for them since Matt's parent's got married there years ago. It was a really cloudy day (just like the engagement) but as soon as we got to the reception at Parker's Lighthouse, it was beautifully sunny.

We were so happy for them! These are the kinds of weddings that make all discouraging times worth it. And they even fed us and gave us the most amazing present ever. Ellie's mom, Karen Schnepf is an artist and they gave us one of her works of art. They have no idea how much we appreciate that. I almost cried when I opened it! We love it.

We made a slideshow of some of the highlights of the day. Hope you enjoy!

Thank you so much Ellie and Matt for having us be a part of your wedding day!

I just found out that lot of movies and music videos have been shot there. We just finished watching The Prestige (which was a fantastic movie) and it was shot there too!

The stylish dress.

I loved her hair piece.

These two were so fun to photograph.

It was a very hot day and everyone had a parasol during the ceremony.

During the ceremony, they walk around each other.

Favors with names on the front and lollipops on the back!

I love finding pretty things in a good moment.

Jules is so cute!!

Yay! We were voted as one of "The Knot 2007 Best of Weddings Pick". My Mom & Jeremy always knew we were the best but I didn't! The Knot did a survey where brides voted and they voted for us! We are really honored to be listed as one of the best photographers in Orange County! I didn't even know they did surveys! Thank you so so much to everyone who voted for us. The magazine is out on new stands now if you would like to pick one up!

Wedding at The Bel-Air Bay Club with Jules.....

Saturday I got to shoot with one of my favorite photogs, the adorable Jules Bianchi. The wedding was at the beautiful Bel Air Bay Club. I can't believe it had been a whole year (almost exactly) since I shot with her last! And as usual, it was so fun!

I always like finding cool reflections. This is one of the bridesmaids.

Before they see each other. I like how they're both looking in opposite directions.

It was windy and her veil looked pretty.

The beautiful bride.

I always think it's funny when grooms hold the bouquet. And he even smelled it!

It was such a nice day after it had rained a lot the day before. And they're so happy!

I got to be up on the balcony during the ceremony.

Their cake had coffee beans all around it and on it and the smell was amazing.

This was fun.

Liz & Andres, Wedding at Torrey Pines.......

Saturday we did a wedding at The Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla. We were really looking forward to their day ever since we shot their fun ringed session. It was a very cloudy day, thankfully no rain. The sun peaked out right before their ceremony and it was just beautiful. Here's a few of our favorites:

The bride getting some help with her dress!

This was the just about the only picture I got of this flower girl before she was done.

Jeremy was with the guys and he got these:

In case you can't see, the engraving reads, "El Che, Big Papa, and A-Train".

Andres was a bit nervous but sooo happy to be getting married.

Liz looking over the balcony at the set-up.

I love this moment Jeremy got during the ceremony.....

......and this one of them walking down the aisle. He just adores her.

He's always making her laugh.

I loved these lights.

Their favors were measuring spoons in the shape of hearts and cookies stacked up like cakes. (I'm a huge fan of baking so I appreciate cute little things like that). I also loved how they had cakes at every other table as centerpieces.

Andres insisted Jeremy have a shot! It didn't take much convincing!

Thank you Liz and Andres for having us! God bless your little family!

Getting Committed in Vegas!

Well after our crazy week of seminars, we had a wedding on Sunday. And it was fantastic!! We had the pleasure of having fun with the bride and groom all day, getting to know them and driving all around Vegas. First they had their small ceremony at the Valley of Fire, which was just amazingly beautiful. Then we stopped by the Las Vegas sign for few. Lastly we went to Fremont street to take even more pics. They were so fun and such great sports! I have to say it ranks up there as one of our favorite weddings!

We had a few minutes before the ceremony to take some awesome photos.

This reminds me of old Hollywood. Such a gorgeous bride.

Their ceremony:

Every single person that was there.

They are sooo happy!

Jeremy got this sequence of the groom's mom being all sassy! ----Jeremy's Note: Chicks that smoke are hot.----

Fun on the road. My version:

Jeremy's version:

A man on his bike just passing by.

I love the Vegas sign.

A vintage-y take.

So this is what I mapped out the day before and I love how it turned out!

Wedding with Kristine.....

Today I second shot a wedding with another photog, Kristine Che. It was the first time I met her but I feel like I've known her forever. It's so great to meet a new photo-friend!!

The wedding party was extremely easy going and we had fun taking tons of pictures. Here's just a few that caught my eye:

I really liked the light and the way this bridesmaid held the veil.

It's fun finding different objects to shoot through.

Gorgeous flowers.

I love, love, love parasols.

From the ceremony at Crystal Cathedral.

Some of my favorite moments from weddings are with the bridesmaids.

Thank you Kristine for a wonderful time. You and your husband are great!

Trash the Dress!

So, I've been thinking about posting a link to this site, www.trashthedress.com for awhile. It's a site where different photogs post their pictures from sessions where they have fun and don't worry about getting the dress dirty. And just recently one of my brides asked me about it and said she would really like to set one up!

Here's some pics of the couple that we're going to trash the dress with:

This is super-cute Rachael and her puffy dress. (I can't wait to get this dress dirty!)

And the super-cute couple, Garrison & Rachael.

Stay tuned for their trash the dress session! If any of our other brides are interested in having fun with your dress, please let us know!
