Melissa + Patrick, Wedding at Grand Island Mansion, Walnut Grove CA

Melissa + Patrick are so cute and nice, I wanna squeeze them!! They really are two of the nicest people we've ever met. (And their families are just as nice too!) They were referred to us by another wonderfully nice couple, Patti + Danny. Melissa + Patrick live in Northern California so we met them on our engagement session with Jackie + Joe in San Francisco and hit it off!

Their wedding took place at a charming venue called Grand Island Mansion in Walnut Grove, California. We would LOVE to shoot another destination wedding there so give us a call if you're planning a wedding!

Some details:

I love when reflections happen upon us.

Melissa and her dad melt my heart.

Our brides and their shoes...

Our client-friends are amazing. What is also amazing is how much they have in common with each other and/or me. I thought it was really interesting that several of our brides picked the same shoes! That really says something about how specific the people we attract are!

This is a really fun video is about High Heels that I thought was fitting.

Delia and Leilah.

Becca also had this same brand, (Giuseppe Zanotti) as Delia/Leilah, different shoes.

Lindsey and Cassie.

Anita and Jackie

I also loved these bride's choices in shoes:

Patti:

Christy:

Nancy:

Deanna:

I also loved these bridesmaid shoes from Delia's wedding:

And probably our favorite guy shoes ever, from Deanna's wedding! You either love it or hate it!

Nice words from Lindsey +Matt!

"Dana Grant Photography is absolutely amazing. Photography is such an important element of anyone's wedding day and Dana Grant Photography made our wedding memories so cherishable. When looking back on all the pictures that were took, we re-lived each moment. They are candid photographers with an edge and we couldn't have asked for anything more out of them. They were PERFECT! We recieved tons of compliments on our wedding photos which stemed to others wanting to use Dana Grant Photography for their own events. Dana and Jeremy Grant rule! There is no other way around it."

Aren't they the sweetest?!

We have LOTS to blog: two weddings, a day after and several fam shoots! I'm trying to catch up! So check back often.

A couple weeks ago we shared a wonderful weekend with Melissa + Patrick at Grand Island Mansion in Walnut Grove, Ca (by Sacramento) and I haven't had a chance to blog it yet. But I wanted to post this picture that caught my attention!

Grand Island Mansion is amazing! I ADORE this moment of Melissa and her dad walking out of the house.

Nice words from Christy + Brian!

We just got this sweet recommendation from Christy + Brian!

"Dana and Jeremy are absolutely amazing - not only did our photos turn out beautifully, they made our wedding even better. They are both so much fun to be around and it's hilarious to watch their quiet competition with each other to get the best shots. We are recommending them to everyone that we know - even if they don't need a photographer right now :) We could not have been more happy to have had chosen Dana Grant Photography - we will be hiring them again many times in the future!"

Thank YOU guys!!

Jackie + Joe, Indian Wells Country Club Wedding

Jackie + Joe are such great people. We had such a good time with them and their amazing families at Indian Wells Country Club. There was a crazy wind storm so the reception had to be moved inside. But they had a great day despite it. The wind also made for some challenging situations but we still managed to get some great shots!

Makeup by Kacee Geoffroy.

Jackie talking about moving the reception inside.

First Look:

Claressa from Driftwood Films made this awesome teaser video! (It goes along with our first look so be sure to check it!)

Reflection.

Proud Mom and Dad after giving the bride away.

Even though there was so much movement in the air, there's something so still about these.

This wasn't a "how cute, the veil is blowing in the breeze" wind. It was a "Oh crap- Run for cover!" kind of wind!

The wind died down just in time to take pictures with Jackie + Joe!

They had such a cute dance!

Sunset:

Cigar bar. Jeremy was in Heaven! He took these cool shots.

There was no drinking at this soiree. Absolutely none ; )

And the Dance Awards go to........

"Best Russian Dance Moves"

"Best Footloose Move"

"Best Beard and Dance Move Combo"!

"Most creative use of a Tie"

"Best Air Guitar"

We LOVE our client-friends!

Nice words from Becca + Jim!

We are just loving all the AMAZING emails that we're receiving from our client-friends! This one comes from Becca and Jim:

**"Dana and Jeremy -

I wanted to thank you more than I think I can for the absolutely most wonderful pictures that I have ever seen.

I cannot believe how you were able to capture every moment and times I did not even witness and yet made me feel like I was re-living it all over again.

On top of this tremendous feat, you never seamed to be anywhere! I never once felt like there was a camera in my face and I had to smile or make sure I was looking at you for the pic. This being said, when you were there it was more as a couple of additional friends that we were so grateful to be sharing in our special day.

I cannot stop looking at the pictures either! I feel like I know what it means to be an addict now!

I am telling everyone in my entire WORLD about how amazing the two of you are and I am sure that eventually people are going to ask me to talk about something else. :)

I don't know how I am ever going to narrow down my choices to my favorites, and I don't think I can have 500 pictures of our wedding in our house!

The problems you have caused are wonderful though! I really cannot thank you both enough and I am going to start thinking of reasons and of events that I MUST have you at! Not only for photographs but just because I love you both so much.

You will be hearing form me soon!

xoxo,

Becca"**

Wendy + Scott, Wedding at Tivoli Terrace

We shot Wendy + Scott's wonderful day last Friday and we finally got a chance to blog it! (It was one of four consecutive shoots so we had to recover!) Their wedding took place at this adorable little venue in Laguna Beach, Tivoli Terrace. Wendy planned their wedding so well. Everything went perfectly and we even had EXTRA time to shoot! It was such a great day with a great couple!

Candy + Dave, Day After in a Graveyard

For our last shoot of the four day weekend, one of our favorite couples Candy + Dave came out for a fun Day After shoot. If you remember their engagement, it was entitled "Death of the Single Life" and we shot it in a cemetery. And their wedding was Day of the Dead themed. Flash forward several months; our super-fantastic blog designer Will found this perfect cemetery. It was just begging for us to do a Day After shoot with them in it!

We're very attracted to the idea of the dark side of love. What I mean by that is; marriage is hard. Like, if you don't think about getting a divorce at least once, there's something wrong with you! (Maybe that's why so many marriages end in divorce; they just don't realize feelings of wanting to kill the other person are completely normal. Rest assured; they are! Ha.) And we love that Candy + Dave get that. That's why their shoots have meant so much to us.

And we got to work with our very talented friends again: Makeup: Amy Marie Clarke and Hair: Hair by Melody

This is the shot I had envisioned and I didn't even take it!

They're so sweet; they melt my heart. BTW, anytime you see shots like this, it's usually by my melty heart man, Jeremy.

Candy is amazingly gorgeous.

This is probably my fave. It's always hard for me to choose!

He was a man.

What's up with cemeteries closing so early?!
We ended up getting locked in and had to hop the fence! Dave climbed over first and got our handy ladder out of the car so we could climb over more easily.

Thanks Candy + Dave for being up for this and for dinner!

Nice words from Delia + Jorge!

Okay, so this one did it! It actually made me cry!

***"We recently received our album, dvd slideshow and assorted goodies from Dana and Jeremy and felt compelled to write to express our thanks for their exceptional work. Their attention to detail, warmness and overall excellence is surpassed only by that which made their work stand out for us from all the others- their artistry. It's not often that one comes across photographers of their caliber with such a unique and fresh vision. We truly feel fortunate that our wedding day was captured so brilliantly by Dana and Jeremy.

Setting out on our journey towards marriage, we both agreed that when all is said and done and the day is over, that which remains are the memories that good photos can bring back into stirring detail. By chance, we found Dana and Jeremy and the rest is fate! Needless to say, just looking at our photographs brings all the emotion, energy and intense happiness of that day back in floods. It's incredible how a photo can capture not only a memory but a mood. We're consistently amazed by what they capture through a camera lens (or two in this case)!

There is a timelessness and yet a modernity to their work that is unmatched. We believe that these photographs will look as fresh in the years to come as they do today and we're so proud that we'll be able to share them with our children and grandchildren someday.

Thank you, Dana and Jeremy, not only for being exceptional photographers but also for having become good friends.

With Love, Delia and Jorge"***

Nice Words from Rebecca + Jonathan!

We just received this awesome letter from Jonathan and Rebbecca and I had to share:

"Dana and Jeremy are incredible photographers not to mention incredible people. From the moment my husband and I met them we just knew we had to have them shoot our wedding. My experience with photographers has always been very uncomfortable, but Dana and Jeremy felt like two friends just enjoying our day who happen to be taking tons of pictures. Not only do they have amazing personalities, but their gift for creativity is unlike any wedding photography I have ever seen. If you want to have your memories captured in way that you will forever cherish and be eager to share with all your friends and family then definitely hire Dana Grant Photography. And as a bonus you'll make two great friends!!!!! Thanks guys, Jonathan and Rebecca Musgrove"

Patti + Danny, Wedding at The Bel Air Bay Club

Last weekend we shot the beautiful wedding of Patti and Danny at the The Bel Air Bay Club. Jeremy and I did the first look and all the portraits before the ceremony so we had a ton of time (which we don't seem to have at a lot of our weddings!) so it was nice. Thank you Gianna and Company for making this day go so perfectly!

More views of the Prada shoes. The saying goes: "You can never have too many shoes." I say you can never have too many PHOTOS of your shoes!

Rebecca + Jonathan, Wedding at The University Club in Pasadena

Rebecca and Jonathan met with us two years ago and we hit it off right away! We shot their engagement session last summer and had such a great time talking. So we were very excited to be shooting their wedding last Saturday, finally! They've been waiting a long time to get married too as they were high school sweethearts. They are wonderful people: filled with love for God, family and friends. We're so happy we got to experience their day with them (even though both of us shed a tear or two!)

Pretty Justina McCaffrey Dress.

I've never seen a bride help all the girls get in their dresses AND help her mom with hairspray! She's the Anti-Bridezilla!

Happy bride!

Handsome and happy groom.

Fun guys!

Girlies.

Standing in front of the fan while putting veil on equals this.

JP was sooo funny! He kept his eyes closed so much that he kept holding the wrong hand out and having his back turned the opposite direction!

But we finally got it:

I have a hunch he was excited to see his bride!

They were excited to finally be husband and wife!

Most brides these days don't have a blusher so it was fun playing with it.

Love them!

Next we found some interesting spots for pictures. We were given full reign!

This is all Jeremy and it may be my fave! Her eyes are amazingly blue!

Shoes per their request!

We really wanted to show off their bling so we lit the heck out of it! (photographers will know what this is!)

Their first dance was so sweet. This was in between him singing to her the whole time.

Fun was had by all dancing the night away!

Leilah + Zack, Day After Session in Palm Springs....

The day after session of Leilah + Zack took place in 110 Palm Springs heat (Jeremy swears it was 118) at 1pm, which in case you didn't know is the hottest time AND the most harsh light. We had quite the challenge. And I should also mention that after we were done, I looked at the time stamp in camera and it took us all of 16 minutes for the entire shoot!

But we rocked the heck out of those 16 minutes!

Isn't she sooo cute?!

Jeremy's shot inspired by the cake topper. It was so hot, the cupcake melted!

Staci & Nick, Wedding at The Community Power House in Del Mar....

Staci and Nick had a lovely wedding at The Community Power House in beautiful Del Mar. One of the coolest things about their wedding was they had both their dogs in it. (As you saw from the previous post.) It was really fun having them around. Everyone was very calm and it was just a nice day. It ended up being very cloudy, which made the light so nice and soft.

Some of our faves:

Bride's shoes.

Groom's shoes.

I liked this pattern with the rings.

I heart reflections.

Staci said, "Aren't the guys usually the ones preparing the vows at the last minute?!"

Groom getting ready. Not as glamorous as the bride!

Clip ons?!?!?

She has such a beautiful smile! I think she's smiling in every photo!

Everyone signed the surf board.

Cute cupcakes.

Reading their own vows.

He enjoys the ceremony.

Just cause!

First dance.

More fun with reflections.

I hardly ever post bouquet tosses and this one is fun!

We hope Staci and Nick are enjoying their honeymoon in Tahiti!! They're probably missing their dogs! : )

Delia & Jorge, Wedding at The Balboa Bay Club....

Last Saturday we shot Delia and Jorge's lovely wedding. They are such a wonderful couple and have been together nine years! First, we met Delia and the girls at the hotel to get all the great details and preparation. Then it was off to shoot the ceremony at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Costa Mesa. And last but not least we had some fun at Balboa Bay Club where the intimate party took place.

I love this shot Jeremy got while she was getting her make-up applied.

The dress.

F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S shoes! You may remember Delia's other cool shoes from their engagement.

Pretty flowers.

The beautiful bride, who is such a great person too!

Jeremy got these great shots of them:

Love these moments.

The "bridesmaid-zillas!" Not our word, I think their mom coined that phrase!

We loved the light coming in through the church windows.

More fun with Bridesmaidzillas!

Fun with the wedding party at the Balboa Bay Club:

This is one of my absolute faves! And Jeremy shot it!

Some more details.

Sprinkles Cupcakes as favors!

Cheers to Delia and Jorge! Thank you both soooo much for making us feel part of the family!

We are so jealous that they are celebrating their honeymoon for three weeks in Italy! Have a great trip!

Trash the Dress/Off to WPPI in Vegas....

We're off to WPPI trade show in Vegas. We've gone every year, usually for the Digital Wedding Forum Convention (except for this year) for the past couple of years. I went to Vegas in 05, 06 and 07. Fun times!

We're still not done editing Jeremy's Trash the Dress Shoot from Palm Springs, but here's two more brides to view while we're gone for a few days.

Trash the Dress Shoot in Palm Springs.......

While I was on my way back from my Vegas trip of a lifetime, Jeremy went to a Trash the Dress Session with a group from our favorite forum, The DWF .

The shoot was in the hot desert of Palm Springs. And Jeremy's not your typical Mexican; he doesn't do well in the heat! (I can make these jokes because I'm Mexican by association!) So poor little Jerm was really hot, sick and miserable but he managed to get some really great stuff anyways.

The first bride. It was really windy and Jeremy got these fun shots! Totally spontaneous and not planned at all. It's perfect. It's almost like she's dancing!

There were a few different hair and make-up people there and we didn't know who did who. We just found out that our girls, Melody and Amy did this bride!

Stay tuned for more of Jeremy's pictures from this shoot!

Rochelle & Ernesto, Wedding at The Westin Pasadena.....

Last weekend, we shot Rochelle and Ernesto's beautiful wedding at The Westin Pasadena. The ceremony took place at Holy Family Catholic Church, also in Pasadena . It was a beautiful rainy day and it went so smoothly. It was a ten hour day so we had the perfect amount of time for pictures. It was coordinated amazingly by Joan Bautista. All the vendors we worked with were so nice and talented. Red 5 Studios did an amazing highlights video that you can see here. We're even in it!

It was really hard to choose especially since we took a ton of pictures in 10 hours but here's some of our faves:

Her dress was so pretty!

Getting ready:

Jeremy saw her through the window!

Her bouquet was so pretty and looks almost exactly like mine on my wedding day!

The beautiful and elegant Rochelle.

I think these types of veils are my faves.

The were so stylish and she had bridesMEN too, which I thought was so cute!

The handsome, happy and relaxed Ernesto.

How cute is she waiting to walk down the aisle?!

Ceremony in the gorgeous church.

They were up for taking some shots in the rain with us!

More fun inside.

Such a fun reception with party people!

Thanks so much Rochelle and Ernesto for sharing your amazing day with us!!

Julie & Jose, Wedding at The Queen Mary.......

Julie and Jose are so cool (really they're so laid back and nice) and we were really excited to shoot their wedding at The Queen Mary in Long Beach. Even though it rained, the day was perfect (and we were happy since we got some really cool day after shots!) So rain doesn't always equal bad. Just a thought.

The bride's niece drew this super adorable picture that I had to capture!

Singing a song together. Too cute!

A little hyper friend running around terrorizing Shaq.

He was so sad. You may remember Shaq from their Ringed Session.

Jeremy got this great shot of the view from The Queen Mary.

I love the mood of this.

These girls were just too funny.

She really wanted to take a picture of everyone giving toasts!

I don't know what's funnier: the kids waiting in anticipation or the many photogs!

This band was incredible and Jose's dad surprised everyone by singing a song with them.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful day with us!

Day After Session at The Queen Mary......

The morning after Julie and Jose's wedding, we did a day after session at The Queen Mary, where the wedding took place. Side story: Don't walk around the Queen Mary alone. When we first got there, I went to find the little girl's room. I walked down a long hall, no one was around and there was scary music playing. I got totally creeped-out! Then I couldn't figure out how to get back because everything looks the same. Scary! I would NOT ever want to stay the night there!

We started inside. I love how old The Queen Mary is.

Then we went outside for some rainy day fun.

I processed this one to look old. I think it looks really cool with the rain and the texture that mimics it.

These are our faves from outside. Jeremy rocked the rainy photos!

Thanks Jose and Julie for braving the cold rain with us!

I had to add what Julie said in her email to us,
"WOW!!!!!! Those came out amazing. I have to say I was a little concerned because of my hair and face "the morning after" but that doesn't even show in the finished product. I am so glad you pulled us out in the rain too...I bet no one has wedding shots like that!"

Thanks for your kinds words, Julie!

Anniversary Cards.....

I was contacted by my friend's family to design an invitation for a surprise 50th anniversary party using the pictures from the wedding. I really enjoyed designing these and it was a special treat to incorporate the wonderful old photos from 50 years ago.

I love how they turned out! We printed them on pearl paper, which has a really nice sheen to it and is thicker than the norm.

Front.

Inside.

Back.

Thanks Clarke Family for giving me this fun project!
