For Erin + Joe's second half of the day, we shot their engagement in Oak Glen. This was my favorite part! It's was sooo much fun! We played with pumpkins and found the coolest corn stalk I've ever seen in person! I didn't even know God made them in California. Bonus!!
Check it:
This is my favorite that I shot!
This is one of my all time favorite Jeremy shots! Corn stalk Heaven!
Pumpkin Heads!
Erin said, "hahaha. We're smashing pumpkins!" They crack me up!
3rd outfit: (We encourage outfit changes!)
This is my shot......
....This is Jeremy's. We always try to out-do each other. You be the judge!
I loved all her outfits! Especially this yummy yellow scarf!
Another one of my faves from Jeremy.
Again, thank you Erin + Joe for such a fun day and a wonderful dinner! You guys are awesome!!!
Erin + Joe, Engagement in San Juan Capistrano, Part 1
Last week we had the pleasure of spending the whole day gallivanting around So cal with Erin + Joe. They were referred to us another amazingly wonderful couple, Becca + Jim. We love this group! Our first stop was San Juan Capistrano. We walked around, found cool spots and had lots of fun. Stay tuned for next post, which includes the Oak Glen part of our shoot!
We found this cute little house!
Super adorable Erin.
Doesn't this just say, "Friendly Neighborhood Psychologist"?!
Their wedding theme is coffee/cafe so we wanted to shoot some here. And Joe bought us a Pumpkin Spice Frap! It was so yummy!
Okay, I know I posted a lot of these but their Save The Dates were so cute and creative we couldn't help but take a ton!
Dear Erin + Joe, Please stop being so cute already so we have less to choose from!! Thank you!
For our first shoot of last weekend's photo-a-thon (I'm bloggging out of order) we shot Jenn + Matt. They live in Vegas and booked us without meeting us! So we were excited to meet them in person. And we had a wonderful time at lunch talking about the wedding. Then we got to shoot in the exclusive Emerald Bay Community of Laguna Beach!
This is one of my faves. On Emerald Bay's private beach.
They are fun!
These adorable dogs belonged to their friend and I just had to put them up!
This dog REALLY wanted to be in the picture!
We really liked this floor and wanted to do something with it.
We had so much fun with you Jenn + Matt and Judie! Can't wait for the wedding!
Jony Bos and The Grants go way back. We've been waiting for the perfect girl to come into his life and she did! Emily was introduced to Jony from a mutual friend (Melody), which is funny because their extended families have actually known each other for years!
As I was looking through the pictures, I couldn't stop smiling. They're both so cute that when you combine them, you get a double dose of adorable-cuteness that you can barely handle! They have such a sweetness about them.
They wanted to do the shoot in Downtown Pasadena so we just made a day of it. And we took a gazillion pictures. So get cozy; this is going to be a long one!
And we just realized there will be seven of our couples at their March wedding!
FACT: Emily is adorable.
This feels very New York to me. I've been dreaming about going. Sigh.
One of my faves that Jeremy shot.
Guess who poked their big head out?!?!
I wanted to get a Polaroid of me and Emily too but I ran out!
One of my other faves that Jeremy shot.
This one reminded me of a Paparazzi shot of the hot couple.
I love the primary colors in this.
Jony proposed to Emily by giving her these shoes with her new last name.
Jeremy did this with the camera.
FACT: Jony is a giant.
Jony Bos.
Dancing cuteness.
They even make picking their noses look cute!
We love you Jony + Emily and we're so excited to be a part your wedding day!
Ashley and Jeff aren't getting married until next September (which we're super excited about. There will be a farm & old license plates involved!) but we shot their engagement session Sunday. They wanted a desert/dirt kind of feeling so Jeremy found the perfect spot in Fallbrook!
It was hard to choose!
We loved this tree!
This might be my fave!
This might be my other fave!
One of my faves from Jeremy.
Thanks Ashley and Jeff for being up for anything and hanging out with us!
Jenna + Jeff, Engagement in Oregon: Multamah Falls and Downtown Portland
For our second day of shooting, we drove to Multamah Falls and then to downtown Portland. Jeff tells me it's "not that bad" of a hike while Jenna was saying that it was really hard! Jenna was right. But we were the only ones that had a hard time! Jeremy was even carrying all the heavy camera gear and he was fine! But I'm glad we did it. It was probably the sole reason I didn't gain any weight on our trip!
We found a log that looked just like the one in Dirty Dancing (one of my fave movies ever) so Jenna danced a little bit. So funny!
Then we shot in downtown Portland.
What! I like out of focus pictures.
Jenna is really camera shy! haha. She said that she wants to have her own reality TV show called "Just Jenna!" I can totally see that happening too!
Jenna + Jeff, Engagement in Oregon: Winery and Barn
Fasten your seat belts my friends because we are going on a journey. A Jenna and Jeff journey, if you will. For our first day on our Oregon Adventure Shoot, we headed from Wilsonville Oregon to deeper in the country. We also went to the city with a couple of stops in between. They are a really fun couple and we had a great time shooting all over the place with them.
Why is everyone in San Diego so awesome?! We had such a blast galavanting around the beach and bars with Lindsey and Matt! Such a cool couple. They have known each other since 6th grade! They have us beat (we met in 7th) but they didn't start dating until after high school (Jeremy and I started dating in 9th grade.) It's always fun to find out these little factoids!
We felt like a party poopers leaving them at 12am!! After meeting their wonderful friends, we're even more excited for their wedding!
We're on our way to Oregon for an engagement session (and other exciting things...) And I had to post at least one of our faves from our fun time with Lindsey and Matt.
We met Melissa and Patrick on our San Francisco trip. Their wedding is in Walnut Grove (northern Cal, yay!) But they happened to be in town for Patti and Danny's wedding (Patti referred Melissa to us!) So we did their shoot at the only time that worked; 7am!! They were so sweet and bought us coffee and goodies! My favorite part of the session was shooting inside Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. They had their first date/kiss right outside of it. Melissa used to work there and knows the owner! So much fun!
Started at Starbucks (which used to be Diedrich's Coffee. So sad.)
Closed but not to us!
The Tsunami! They sent us home with one! It was gooood.
Yummy!
In the spot where they first kissed.
We didn't tell them to do this. People were staring at them!
Thanks Melissa and Patrick for all the goodies and fun!
Becca and Jim's engagement session took place at the fabulous Viceroy Hotel in Palm Springs. What a cool place! I love the mid century modern (I just found out the term thanks to Becca) and this was perfect. And they wore such cool outfits too. Can't wait for their wedding!
The theme for Michelle and Mike's engagement session seemed to be flowers and sun flare. We had so much fun shooting them. Michelle is a natural and it turns out Mike was way easier than he made himself out to be!
Pretty flare.
Pretty flowers.
I liked this.
They just starting dancing!
They decided to run back to the car and this cracks me up!
Our plan was to do Leilah and Zack's shoot in L.A but it ended up being impossible for us all to get there at 6ish (Thank you L.A traffic!) And I was a little disappointed because we had some really cool ideas. But Zack works at this super rad bar and they thought it would be cool for a shoot. And they were SO right! It was absolutely perfect in every way. And we had full access to do whatever we wanted. So really, THANK YOU L.A traffic!
We are ALL about finding places that reflect the couple and this is it!
And yes, that is a Diane Arbus photo.
Gotta have drinks when you're in a bar.
My favorite shot that I made.
Our favorite shot that Jeremy made.
This is my other favorite one that Jeremy made.
The reflection in the bar.
Leilah and Zack, Thank you for such an amazing night! We heart you guys!
Come back for part two of their shoot later this week!
Kristen & Brandon, Engagement at Salvation Mountain...
We stumbled across Salvation Mountain on the internet and it looked like a really cool place to do a shoot. So when we met Kristen and Brandon we knew it would be perfect for them. Their love for God is central to their relationship and this place reflects that very well!
It was two hours BOTH ways but we think it was WELL worth the trip.
Thanks Kristen and Brandon for taking the long drive with us and being up for anything!
We had so much fun shooting Wendy and Scott last Thursday. They are super fun! I know Wendy is DYING to see these so here goes:
I heart this picture!
Awesome location number two in a beautiful flower field. They are ALL my favorites! And we kept switching cameras so I don't know who took what but I take credit for all of them! Haha. Just kidding, Jeremy!
Yay Jackie and Joe and Yay San Francisco!! This was our first time meeting this super cute couple and they are soooo awesome. We especially wanted to shoot this in San Francisco because 1. It really reflects them since they used to live there 2. They were in from New York and 3. It's a good excuse to celebrate our six year anniversary early! We had a blast walking around while they showed us all the places they are so familiar with.
We started out in our hotel for an idea that Jeremy had.
Then we walked through this cool place:
Next, they took us to the roof of the place they used to live!
We ended our session on the street!
One of my faves that Jeremy got!
Thank you so much Jackie and Joe for a great time! We can't wait for the wedding!
While we work on the all the pictures, here's a sneak peak from our San Francisco engagement session with Jackie and Joe. We can't wait to show you the rest!
Delia & Jorge, Engagement at Mission San Juan Capistrano.....
I was so excited when I saw Delia and Jorge walking down the street to meet us at Mission San Juan Capistrano. I think I even squealed a little! They had on the coolest outfits! So we knew right from the start this was going to be a fun shoot. It was extra hard to choose so I picked a lot! Plus we haven't done a shoot in a few weeks.
Not only did we get to do this fun shoot in a cool place, this awesome couple treated us to dinner at a REALLY yummy Mexican restaurant. We had such a great time. Thank you guys!!
The coolest shoes!
And outfits!
LOVE this pretty flower.
I loved this by Jeremy...
and I loved mine too!
Inside the church.
We liked this red door by the train station.
Jorge.
Couldn't get enough of these amazing shoes! I can't wait to see the wedding ones!
Last Monday I got to shoot with one of my favorite photogs, Leigh Miller. She's awesome and I heart her! We shot the couple at this really cool park with lots of interesting spots in Sierra Madre. Then we went out to dinner and chatted about photography stuff. Thanks for hanging out with us Leigh!
We were back at the Mission Inn after only a few days but this time for an engagement session. It was the first time we met Danny and Jeremy wishes he could have his hair! We shot Patti's fam session in December so we knew she was fun! It was a very cloudy day and we thought it was going to rain. We were a little bummed that it didn't because we were actually prepared but it was much easier! And we got some cool cloudy shots.
January is engagement sessions galore! We shot Rochelle and Ernesto at the amazing Getty. Love the Getty. It's so much fun to shoot there! But we didn't look at any art this time because we had four other things planned but we still had a fun time shooting this sweet couple.
It was sunny right until we got there so the pictures turned out kinda moody and I like it!
Their smiles are too cute!
This is one of my faves and I didn't even take it.
Brian and Christy are awesome and we had a lot of fun shooting and hanging out with them. They even shared some wine with us, which is much appreciated. We did the shoot at an undisclosed location. Ha. Just kidding. It was actually a no trespassing zone (as all the best places are) but I still challenge you to guess where this is!
Wine enthusiasts! I just have to say, Jeremy's photo rocks! (Which is perfect because he likes to think of himself as a rock-star photographer.)
Couldn't decide between these 2 so I put both up:
We forgot the wine opener so we went back to our place and shot some of them enjoying their delicious wine.
For our first ringed session of the year, we shot Keli and Marc at the Harbor in Dana Point. And at 12pm, which is a photo no no. But we don't always follow the rules here at Dana Grant Photography! Harsh light is fun.
Here's a few faves.
I like blurry.
Cute!
This bird was so funny! He didn't move even when Jeremy got really close.
Just for a Fun Friday post, here's the last collage with the misc photo shoots. They consist of: Ringed-that-didn't-get-married-this-year, Portraits and Passion shoots.
Thinking about all the stuff we want to do this year, we thought we'd start with a list of our faves. We hope to work with these people more this year. Not only are they awesome people, but extremely good at what they do! Please consider our friends when making a decision about what services you might need. This isn't a paid ad, we recommend them because they're awesome!
The day after Thanksgiving (after the crazy shopping!) we went to Long Beach to shoot a ringed session with Julie and Franco. We had a good time shooting them and their adorable dog too! He's a Chiwawa/Terrier mix, which makes him cute (sorry we're not big fans of Chiwawas).
A couple weeks ago I posted a blog about this Wedding Project I was working on. Now I can post the whole thing! A lot of our blog stalkers (hehehe) saw it at the wedding but for those of you who haven't, here it is. It's a cute little book Bryon and Darci gave out as favors at their Wedding.
When we first met with Bryon and Darci they had a whole awesome idea for this book and shoot. We couldn't do everything we wanted due to time but I think the finished product came out so amazing. And what Bryon wrote is so great I cried when I first read it.
What an awesome place for a ringed session! We love The Getty. I was so excited when I found that one of my all time favorite photographers, Edward Weston had a show going on, so we left early so we could catch it. Jeremy really enjoyed Luc Delahaye's work while I didn't love it. It was really impressive however how big the prints were.
Before the shoot. The first pic of Jeremy cracked me up! Isn't he excited for self-portraits?!
We walked around The Getty with Riann & Daylan and stopped at cool spots. It was so fun! The possibilities are endless with a place like this. They were up for anything and have such a cool look.
Jeremy's Flare.
My Flare.
The cool architecture of The Getty:
I love how calm and direct their look is.
On the tram.
Thank you Riann and Daylan for suggesting The Getty! We're looking forward to your December wedding at Castle Green!
For our second fun shoot of the weekend, we did Bryon & Darci part two with the girls. Most of the pics on the blog today are from Jeremy. He did such an amazing job as usual! I love them!
Love.
Girls.
Fun!
This has to be one of my all time fave Jeremy shots.
Eric and Morgan are part of the Gabe & Janise and Jen & Derek "cop crew" (I just made that up). Such a fun group! After their ringed session, we even had the pleasure of Eric & Morgan's company for dinner and a cigar too. Thanks for my cigar Morgan!
We shot the first ringed/fam session with Bryon and Darci. They have such a cool vision for their shoot and we even made a story board. And without knowing it, we had three themes going on: Flare, shadows and frame within a frame. Weird how both of us did it.
Jeremy and Darci found this abandoned house. Home Sweet Home:
Jeremy and I had this idea for a shoot and then we found the perfect couple when we met Candy and Dave. Dave is the lead singer to Throwdown (awesome hardcore metal band) and is finally back from touring The Warped Tour. And Candy is a gorgeous, quiet girl with great style. And we're on the same page, which makes everything more fun! We are all so excited that we finally get to do this shoot that we've been planning for so long!
This is our art project; you can interpret. It also works as great "photo-therapy" for us.
I know all you blog stalkers have been waiting for some Yosemite posts since our vacation last month (by the way, I heart you blog stalkers!!) and finally I have something to show you. I just sent out the Yosemite film to be developed so stay tuned for that post.
This couple isn't really engaged but it's close enough! They have been married for a few years. We thought it would be fun to do a session with them in a beautiful place that we all love! I couldn't convince her to trash her beautiful dress there but there's always next year! (C'mon Chrissy do it!!)
A few from one of my favorite places to shoot, the meadows. A mixture of mine and Jeremy's shots (not sure who took what and I'm too lazy to look it up!)
Jeremy shot this on our way to another spot. I love, love, love it!
We saw a baby bear on our ride (good thing Jeremy had the telephoto lens on!)
Momma bear and two baby bears!
A perfect place for a little make-out session. It's okay, they're married.
Last Friday we did a ringed session with a beautiful couple at Thornton Winery. It was such beautiful perfect light; we photogs love that! And the couple had great style and were really fun to shoot.
I just love this one that Jeremy shot.
Our new favorite way to process images. I think it looks really good with these colors.
In case you don't know where Signal Hill is, it's the city you pass when you go to LAX next to Long Beach. Tiffany and Kyle were nice enough to invite us over for an evening of shooting and better yet, dinner! (We have the best clients ever. We're spoiled, we know).
We did the shoot at two very cool parks in Signal Hill (who knew Signal Hill had such nice parks?!) They both have really amazing views of the city too.
First we went to the park where she proposed to him!
Sunday we met Michelle and David at Philippes in LA. We had never eaten there before and it was really good. And fun to eat at such a famous place. I was shocked that the coffee was only 9 cents! I didn't think anything costs that little, let alone a delicious cup of coffee! After dinner we headed over to Union Station for the shoot.
Okay, here is their little Slideshow. I asked Michelle what song she wanted before it was done and I actually picked one by the same artist on the same soundtrack (Punch Drunk Love). Weird!
Friday we did a ringed session with JP and Beccy at the Montage in Laguna Beach. It had been a whole year since we saw them last. And they're not getting married until next year! We had such a good time, we ended up staying after the shoot and talking for hours! That's what happens when we don't see our peeps!
I would like to point out that the majority of the shots were taken by my talented hubby! I'd love to see if you can guess who took what.....
Two lovebirds with two birds of paradise.
I love this collage.
I really wish they would cheer up!
You can see the oncoming wave that came in too close.
Just barely made it!
Sunset.
Thank you JP and Beccy for a wonderful time. Can't wait to hang out again!
Last week Jeremy and I shot a really fun ringed session at the Angel's Stadium with Tony and Kati. Tony is a huge fan of the Angels (Go Angels!!) And I actually went to High School, Jr. High and Elementary school with Kati so it was fun catching up! And it was super fun hanging out with them!
This is part two of the Marla Mae shoot. We shot so much that day, we had to separate it into two parts! After we shot Amanda all day, we did a session with her and her boyfriend, David. He is the lead singer of this really cool band, Hopeunseen.
Jeremy's and my shooting style is so much alike, I'm having trouble telling who took what! Here's some of our faves:
They're so cute the way they put their faces together.
This rainy morning we met Ellie and Matt for their ringed session. They live in Nebraska but are getting married in CA. So they had to fly out last night so we could do the shoot this morning and then fly back!! Since it was raining, we decided to go to "The Schneider Ranch" (aka my parent's house) in The Horse Capital of the USA, Norco.
When we first met Ellie and Matt, we had an instant connection so we knew that this was going to be fun!! Even though it wasn't at all what we planned, it was even better! I love when that happens!
Howdy!
Her awesome ring designed by Matt. It's so unique!
They really enjoy each other.
By the little house that my step-dad built out back. I love these flowers my mom planted.
They're thinking, "I can't believe we're doing this while it's raining!"
Matt loves old cars just like we do so we went by to check it out.
They are so much fun!
I LOVE the feeling of this picture.
Jeremy got these shots of Ellie trying to get Matt to share the umbrella!
Fun with the play toys.
Thanks Ellie and Matt for being such good sports and for coming all the way out. You guys rock!
This evening we did a shoot with our friends, Shawn and Cassie. We all live in beautiful Crown Town so we decided to have the shoot at Corona's new shopping center Dos Lagos. It has some really neat architecture. Shawn and Cassie were fun to shoot and we had a great time!
Jeremy got this gorgeous one of Cassie!
I got this one.
Some people think I take all the pictures. But Jeremy takes good pictures too! (I have to admit I post more of mine because I know what I'm looking for when I blog. Shh, don't tell him.) He took these:
Cassie looks so graceful. She's actually a dancer.
It's like we're in a beautiful meadow......
or by a cool fence....................but we're just in Corona.
Also from the mind of Jeremy.
I can't believe what amazing eyes she has. I just can't stop looking at her!
Btw, her hair was done by Melody at hairbymelody@yahoo.com and her make-up was done by Amy at thebridemakers@yahoo.com.
It's hard work being so beautiful so she had to take a little nap.
God made dirt and dirt don't hurt.
It's like their little Dirty Dancing moment. Girls, you know what I'm talking about!
----Jeremy's Note To Guys: Always wear underwear to a shoot. There is a possibility with our shooting style that your pants might rip.-----
Thank you Shawn and Cassie for the most unforgettable evening of our lives!
Today we had a "ringed session" (more fun to say than engagement. So from now on, it's ringed sessions) with a cute couple Tiffani and Garret. We had met with Tiffani and she booked us for their wedding but we hadn't met Garret yet. She kept telling him how cool we are (because we really are- he he!) and how cool Garret is. So we finally got to meet him and he came up with some pretty cool things!
We loved that they were up for anything! Here are some of our faves from today:
Garret's cool skull tattoo. (Jeremy loves skulls and tattoos too.)
Jeremy got this one of them peeking through.
The only thing I love more than photo booths is taking pictures of photo booths.
Jeremy's word to guys: take note from Garret, get involved in the engagement shoot. Here Garret stuffs Tiffani's face with cotton candy.
I loved this one that Jeremy got of their soda. It's so old fashioned.
Here he makes a heart out of the cotton candy and gives it to her!
Don't really know what they're doing here but it sure is funny!
Thank you so much for being so creative with us. You guys are the greatest!
Today we shot this engagement with Jessica and Andrew at a little airport with cool planes everywhere. Originally we were supposed to go to Big Bear but it was too cold. Andrew is actually a pilot so we decided an airport would be perfect! It ended up being really cold today but the planes were worth it.
The sun looks warm but our fingers were ice cubes.
Planes are fun!
Thanks for doing the shoot with us today guys! Sorry it was sooo cold!
Yay! Our first engagement of the year! We were so excited. We finally met Liz and Andres (after talking through email for a couple of months) last week to do the pictures but it was too cold. So this was round two! We had so much fun. They were really into each other and easy to shoot.
I loved his tatoo and her ring.
Jeremy got these ones by this nice green wall....
....and Liz's awesome laugh.
I heart flare.
I love this one that Jeremy got.
Andres grabbed a flower nearby and gave it to Liz. It was so sweet!
Thanks guys for being so fun today! We can't wait to shoot your wedding!
We did this engagement at the The Mission Inn in Downtown Riverside. It's one of our favorite places because there's so many different fun spots for cool pictures. It's never the same. And we had a really good time with the couple as they found unique places and were up for anything. Here are a few of our favorites.
We love how much they love each other!
The words on the wall say, "the importance of roots." It's true.
This evening we did an engagement with a couple at Thornton Winery. What a nice winery and wonderful couple! They first met while she tried to sell him wine (and they love wine) so having their pictures at a winery was special to them.
The wine from Heather's winery, Lavendi. After we finished taking pictures, we went out to dinner with the couple and her parents. We had such a great time! Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Pierce for a lovely dinner!
