Jenna + Jeff, Engagement in Oregon: Multamah Falls and Downtown Portland

For our second day of shooting, we drove to Multamah Falls and then to downtown Portland. Jeff tells me it's "not that bad" of a hike while Jenna was saying that it was really hard! Jenna was right. But we were the only ones that had a hard time! Jeremy was even carrying all the heavy camera gear and he was fine! But I'm glad we did it. It was probably the sole reason I didn't gain any weight on our trip!

We found a log that looked just like the one in Dirty Dancing (one of my fave movies ever) so Jenna danced a little bit. So funny!

Then we shot in downtown Portland.

What! I like out of focus pictures.

Jenna is really camera shy! haha. She said that she wants to have her own reality TV show called "Just Jenna!" I can totally see that happening too!

I love sequences!

Jenna + Jeff, Engagement in Oregon: Winery and Barn

Fasten your seat belts my friends because we are going on a journey. A Jenna and Jeff journey, if you will. For our first day on our Oregon Adventure Shoot, we headed from Wilsonville Oregon to deeper in the country. We also went to the city with a couple of stops in between. They are a really fun couple and we had a great time shooting all over the place with them.

Come back this week for more!

Day One: Drove to Anne Amie Winery.

We love Jenna's laugh!

One of my faves.

Then we found an abandoned barn.

LOVE Oregon light!!

Come back for the 2nd shoot with Jenna and Jeff later this week!

Behind the Scenes in Oregon

Before I post the engagement session we did in and around Portland Oregon, here's a look behind the scenes and some of the places we shot.

On the plane, when we weren't asleep!

This is the backyard of the house we stayed in! It's on a lake.

Where we started the shoot.

We found THE most radical place to shoot in THE most yummy light!

Claressa from Driftwood Films was shooting an engagement video as well.

Sunset at 9pm, which is my dream come true.

So the next day we headed to Multnomah Falls, which we hiked a mile uphill to get to!

Notice I'm not wearing the correct attire for hiking! My shoes were pretty much slippers!

We were starving after the hike and went to Burgerville, which we don't have in Cali.

After we arrived in L.A, waiting for the shuttle:

hahaha!

Come back soon for the actual shoots in Oregon!

On the way back from San Francisco....

Before we left San Francisco, we stopped to meet with a really sweet couple (hi guys!) and we took some pictures of random things.

I was so sad that I didn't have enough time to take more photos of swirlies!

Caught! Right after we had breakfast, he goes and gets another drink!

The Ferry.

A little art fair:

I love fire hydrants. I always take photos of cool-looking ones.

Jeremy tried to take a bad photo of me but it came out good!

On the LONG way home on the 1 Freeway.

Right by the Hurst Castle, there's this spot to view Elephant Seals, not to be confused with regular seals.

They make the funniest sounds!

I hope this one is just sleeping!

Observe "The Jerm" in his natural habitat. He's a strange sloth-like creature. He reaches in the funyun bag, his lips slowly strech out and finally grab his meal.

On the way to San Francisco....

Here's some more fun stuff from San Fran. It was a really quick trip so we didn't take a ton. We were mostly traveling or shooting the engagement session or sleeping!

We left late Thursday night and drove for about 45 minutes before we realized we forgot our albums! (Kind of important when you're meeting with potential clients). So we had to turn around. We ended up staying the night at this little motel in the middle of nowhere. I have to look up the receipt to see what town, hold on.... it's "Apricot" or "Firebaugh". I don't know....

Jeremy can never take a normal picture with me!! Sigh.

He's a crazy!

This one makes me laugh out loud!

And Moi. Driving is serious business.

McDonald's has the BEST regular coffee. It's WAY better than Starbuckscrapola.

Like this trash can.

I heart coffee!

Jeremy hearts.. uh.. greenery, yeah that's it!

What? Don't you like to stand by the dumpsters after breakfast?

Lots of dead bugs, the bridge, and San Fran here we come!

Jeremy's ginnie pig before the shoot. I'm on a straight-forward-look kick.

Come back tomorrow for more adventures in "On the way HOME from San Francisco!"

Jackie & Joe, Engagement in San Francisco......

Yay Jackie and Joe and Yay San Francisco!! This was our first time meeting this super cute couple and they are soooo awesome. We especially wanted to shoot this in San Francisco because 1. It really reflects them since they used to live there 2. They were in from New York and 3. It's a good excuse to celebrate our six year anniversary early! We had a blast walking around while they showed us all the places they are so familiar with.

We started out in our hotel for an idea that Jeremy had.

Then we walked through this cool place:

Next, they took us to the roof of the place they used to live!

We ended our session on the street!

One of my faves that Jeremy got!

Thank you so much Jackie and Joe for a great time! We can't wait for the wedding!

More from Ohio.......

Well as usual, we took a lot of pictures! It is so beautiful right now, we had no choice. You don't see red and orange trees in California!

We visited the cute little town of Fairborn, where Patte works:

My dad joked about taking a picture of this and it came out really good!

Cute coffee shop.

The owner of the town, Mike Foy is really into Halloween.

I love this one of Jeremy!

Trees in my Dad and Patte's backyard.

I love this house nextdoor.

Ohio flare.

Their house is the cutest one on the block! I love the black and white shutters.

I love this pic Jeremy took of Dfer. He looks guilty!

Jeremy took this and I love it.

They have their own personal Christmas Tree in their backyard!

Family pics:

Everyone that made it to the BBQ.

Jeremy always tries to take horrible pictures of me that's why I have my hand up!

Crazy cat Stubby.

Jeremy's cool pic.

Our new friend, Christy.

Beautiful colors!

We're getting home late nonight! We'll miss Ohio!

OHIO.........

We left for Ohio early Wednesday morning in a rush after I got confused on the dates. On our plane, we saw the fires burning bright. I've never seen anything like it. I wish we would have be able to take a picture but it was too dark. We're praying everyone stays safe. We are supposed to have a wedding next week in Fallbrook and we have no idea if it's going to be there or not.

Our first outing was to the National Aviation Museum where they have really awesome exhibits. We didn't even get through it in one day so we might have to go back!

Dfer saw us off.

The cool propellers.

We thought this was funny.

This is really cool because my Dad lives on Bataan street.

The aviators painted their jackets.

They have a Holocaust exhibit that I was so glad we got to see. Amazing black and white photos of the concentration camps. The sign means "work makes free" in German. A lot of Holocaust survivors came to Dayton.

Out of the office.....

We're off to Ohio to visit my Daddy and Patte! Yay! I went by myself last year but this time Jeremy gets to go too. We have a lot on the agenda including: visiting the Aviation museum, shopping at awesome flea markets Patte found just for me and of course the reason why we're going; so I can bake my Dad some delicious home made cookies. (Side note: Last year my Dad and I went straight from the airport to buy the stuff at the store! Ha!) We've never been to Ohio in October so it will be fun to photograph the change of scenery.

We'll be out of the office from October 26 to October 30. We'll be available by phone or by email so you won't miss us much! Please let us know if you need anything!

More shoots in Yosemite......

The film is developed. And I finally am able to do Yosemite part two. This is a long post since I am cramming eveything in here! We have three more shoots, cross processed and holga film and scenic pictures to show you. Take a looksy:

Some cool Cross Processed Film:

From Steve and Chrissy's Shoot.

Cool Holga image of the cute little church.

Scenic bikeride:

Across the view from the pic above are these cute little houses.

My amazing adorable comfortable bike.

Half Dome at sunset.

A deer in the meadow:

Shoot with Destine. We always tease her that she looks like a manaquin so I call this "dead manaquin girl".

Early morning fam/maternity shoot:

Another cross processed film image.

Owen couldn't be any cuter if he tried!

I love this Holga image of Owen.

Yosemite Flowers.

This cross processed one came out so cool!

And Lastely, after we did everyone else's shoots, we tried to do one for ourselves. We attempted a Trash the Dress Session with me and Jeremy that we'd be planning for months, but due to unforeseen circumstances it didn't work out. Jeremy did manage to get these two really great shots of me in my wedding dress for all of 10 minutes of our shoot:

Ringed in Yosemite...

I know all you blog stalkers have been waiting for some Yosemite posts since our vacation last month (by the way, I heart you blog stalkers!!) and finally I have something to show you. I just sent out the Yosemite film to be developed so stay tuned for that post.

This couple isn't really engaged but it's close enough! They have been married for a few years. We thought it would be fun to do a session with them in a beautiful place that we all love! I couldn't convince her to trash her beautiful dress there but there's always next year! (C'mon Chrissy do it!!)

A few from one of my favorite places to shoot, the meadows. A mixture of mine and Jeremy's shots (not sure who took what and I'm too lazy to look it up!)

Jeremy shot this on our way to another spot. I love, love, love it!

We saw a baby bear on our ride (good thing Jeremy had the telephoto lens on!)

Momma bear and two baby bears!

A perfect place for a little make-out session. It's okay, they're married.

Thanks Steve and Chrissy for the fun shoot!

Hawaii Part Two....

We're home now and missing Hawaii! And not just missing Hawaii but the family we shared it with! We had the best time. It was the perfect mix of relaxing, doing fun stuff and being very active- We got more exercise that we normally do!

The next few days of Hawaii.

Our self-portrait on Waikiki.

We went snorkeling and saw all these awesome fish!

Jellies.

Not sure what this guy is.

Shark.

Ha. Just kidding. Jeremy actually shot these at the Aquarium. But we did go snorkeling a few days later. Jeremy took a bunch of pictures with an extremely overpriced underwater camera that we bought on our Kayaking trip.

Cool stuff Jeremy and I shot on our bike ride to the coffee shop.

I love this sign Jeremy shot and processed.

I really like little old churches.

Our favorite Chai. We ended up buying 4lbs of it. It's soooo good!

Jeremy got up early one morning and shot these:

Fam collage.

My Jahnke Family Fave.

I love this photo of my sister and Dad that Jeremy got.

Last ride to the coffee shop.

These are for Patte since she really wanted me to take some flower pics!

First Days in Hawaii.....

We're in Hawaii having such a great vacation! And it is so wonderful being with my family that I don't get to see nearly enough. The first night we got here I went outside with my nephews to shoot some photos. Here's what came out of that:

My sister's front yard. She lives about a block away from the beach.

My nephew Jack.

My nephew Joey.

They're really camera shy! And before we got here they were saying that they wouldn't let us take their picture!

They were really interested in taking photos so Joey shot this one of Jack and I love it!

The next morning I woke up at 5am and went on a walk with my Dad, Patte and Jill (my sister.)

The very same day, we hiked up to Makapuu Lighthouse. It was a really great scenic workout.

Fun fact: My sister tells me that this is where they shot the episodes of Lost (it's filmed on Oahu) where the others are pretending to live in the teepees.

Jeremy got this cool shot of my Dad, sister and me when we didn't even know it.

Us.

This is the lighthouse at the top of the hike.

The next morning after a rainy night, there was a beautiful rainbow.

On our 2 mile walk on the beach to the coffee shop. Jeremy's wearing his "That guy" shirt. And every time Jeremy would leave the room, my nephews would say, "hey where did that other guy go?"

Amazing day as usual.

On our way back from the coffee shop. Jill and Joey.

Stay tuned for part two of Hawaii and I'm sure I'll end up making a slideshow too!

Yosemite!!

We're off to our annual trip to Yosemite National Park. Here's the blog from Last Year's Trip. What do we have planned this year? Well, I'm so glad you asked! Our "shootivities" include but are not limited to: family/maternity shoot, ringed session, nature-y film shoots, Super 8 film and a few surprises involving yours truly! It's going to be way too much fun!

We'll be in Yosemite for about a week. We can't check our emails but can check our phone messages on the pay phone (we get no service up there). So if you need to get a hold of us, please leave a message and we'll call you back.

One of my fave flower images from Yosemite last year.

More from Rivera Maya....

While in Rivera Maya not only did I get to shoot a destination wedding, but a trash the dress session too! Here are a few from the day after the wedding:

Looking at this really makes me want to go back and relax!

Getting the dress wet:

I think this one's my favorite.

Who wants to go to Rivera Maya and trash their dress?! I'll settle for anywhere around here. We have some ideas... Let us know if you want to do one!

Destination Wedding, El Dorodo Royal in Rivera Maya......

So I'm finally blogging the wedding that I shot at El Dorado Royal in Rivera Maya. If you saw my Rivera Maya Post you were expecting to see some wedding images.

This couple was so sweet and nice. It was really fun shooting their wedding with Leigh.

I was with the guys while they prepared.

Going over his vows.

They were VERY excited to be getting married.

Her pretty dress.

Rivera Maya, Mexico!

I just got back from the Rivera Maya! I was there to shoot a destination wedding with my photo-friend Leigh Miller. We stayed at El Dorado Royal, A spa Resort. Since I'm so behind on blogging, I thought I'd post a few of the hotel before I get to the wedding! So check back for the wedding ones soon.

Ahh. I never did try one.

I really liked this church that some people get married in.

Some of the things I enjoy.

This is the view from where you can get a massage.

The cute "Casitas".

Peacocks hang around the hotel. This one had a broken feather.

Getting Committed in Vegas!

Well after our crazy week of seminars, we had a wedding on Sunday. And it was fantastic!! We had the pleasure of having fun with the bride and groom all day, getting to know them and driving all around Vegas. First they had their small ceremony at the Valley of Fire, which was just amazingly beautiful. Then we stopped by the Las Vegas sign for few. Lastly we went to Fremont street to take even more pics. They were so fun and such great sports! I have to say it ranks up there as one of our favorite weddings!

We had a few minutes before the ceremony to take some awesome photos.

This reminds me of old Hollywood. Such a gorgeous bride.

Their ceremony:

Every single person that was there.

They are sooo happy!

Jeremy got this sequence of the groom's mom being all sassy! ----Jeremy's Note: Chicks that smoke are hot.----

Fun on the road. My version:

Jeremy's version:

A man on his bike just passing by.

I love the Vegas sign.

A vintage-y take.

So this is what I mapped out the day before and I love how it turned out!

Vegas Recap...

So I borrowed my mom's little point and shoot camera for the week so I could fit it in my purse while we went out. (And also to blog stuff while we were in Vegas.) Well, I'm so smart, I couldn't download them to my computer! So I had to wait until now to actually use the point and shoot stuff. Oh and my plug broke so I couldn't use my laptop. Fun!

Since I couldn't do this in real time, I thought I'd do some high points and of course the inevitable low points.

High Points:
Inn n Out: We were starving since the first seminar got started late, so we went to Inn N Out at 11pm.

It was the best burger & animal cheese fries I've ever had in my whole life.

Party number one at Bahama Breeze with the DWF buddies:

Me and Jerms looking all cute:

Jenn, Kristine , Jeremy and Dana.

Everytime I see this, I have to laugh!

Me and Jenn having a blast in 06, taken by Becker.

We also went to Becker's party, from which we have no pics but its worth mentioning. There was so many party peeps in his suite at The Hotel that you couldn't move or breathe. He's so popular!

The very next day, we had the dessert shoot with the convention. JMC and David Beckstead showed us how they shoot and then how they processed the images they took the very next day.

They had a bride and groom and a cool old car.

Jeremy got this shot of JMC chasing his bride, trying to light her on fire. (He has a bride on fire on site.)

I love old cars, especially red ones!

JMC's idea of a bride in the trunk. Love it. I hope he puts his version on his blog soon.

Us in the cold, windy dessert.

After the convention was over, went to the Anti Party at a Dive Bar called Double Down Saloon. Their speciality drink just happens to be concoction that's delicious, effective and called "ass juice".

Self portrait in the bathroom. If anyone has ever been to Showcase in Crown Town, it's just like it.

The effects of our "special drink". ---Jeremy's note: If you're in town, make sure to try the ass juice.----

"Happy" Jeremy.

"Happy" Dana.

"Happy" Jeremy and Dana.

I heart Becker!!

Saturday afternoon driving around Fremont Street trying to find cool spots to shoot our wedding on Sunday.

In case you didn't know, Jeremy LOVES cigars.

I got an idea to shoot this spot with our bride, check it out on the next blog.

Now some low points:

Almost losing my wallet, losing Jeremy's phone, ass juice (I have to put it in this category as well since after my two shots I got sick) and my plug to my laptop burning out. Also, we got up early Monday through Saturday for the convention/book-making class. It was all worth it but we're still exhausted!

Vegas Here We Come!!

We're off to Vegas for another week jammed-packed full of fun! It's really for a photography convention but it's fun to learn and even more fun to go to parties after! I went by myself to last year's convention. Jeremy dropped me off and picked me up-crazy I know! He said he wanted to since I don't love to fly. But this year we get to party together like it's 1999!! (I'm really excited, can you tell?!)

The itinerary includes: DWF convention Mon-Thurs with tons of amazing photography seminars and parties. The WPPI Trade Show is also going on so we can check out all the best stuff out there. Next, I have Combo 3 where I get to hand-make an album (I am super excited about this!) Then we have a wedding at the Valley of Fire and it's going to be amazing!

From last year:

If you need to reach us, we will be checking our emails and voice mails.

And stayed tuned for more Vegas pictures!!

A Day in the Mountains....

On Monday, we drove up to Big Bear for an impromtu visit. Here are a few pics from our little trip:

Owen is so cool.

There wasn't too much snow so this little patch had to do.

I LOVE this shot Jeremy got.

Then we went on a little walk up the street from the house. We had quite the adventure on the way back when a mutt was barking at us and wouldn't let us back on our path! So we threw rocks and made noises until he left.

Aren't we cute?!

We just love them!

I thought this was sweet that someone buried their dog with his leash up in the mountains.

Nice lake.

The beautiful Punta Final

We went on a mini-vacation to Punta Final with Mom and Pops (Jeremy's parents) where they have a house and an amazing private beach.

On the way to our destination there was 55 miles of bumpy dirt road.....

.....and lots of abandoned cars and this cool boat.

The amazing view of the beach from the house.

A little hidden treasure.

A collage of some textures that I found interesting.

A $100 bottle of tequila that gave me the worst heartburn of my life. Other than that, it contributed to the most fun game of Dominos.

This is a self-portrait of me and my messy hair relaxing. I had this in mind when I took it and it came out just like I wanted. Sleeping there was the best.

The beach was full of these neat looking shells. I haven't seen a whole lot of these on our beaches.

The alternative to a picture of our faces. Way more fun!

Our favorite hobby besides photography.

We sat on this balcony and smoked cigars. What a perfect evening!

We're off for a few days to a little place called Nowhere, Mexico. It's actually Punta Final but I'm sure you've never heard of it. We shall be posting some pictures when we get back. We'll be returning all calls and emails on Tuesday.

Have a great weekend! We know we will!

Yosemite!

We had a wonderful time in Yosemite! The last couple of years I wasn't sure what to make of it. I wasn't sure I liked camping. But this year was the deciding factor. I love it! I love everything about it. Now it's a tradition to go every year with our friends. We might even visit in the fall, which I'm really excited about when all the orangy colors are so beautiful.

So here's a bunch of pictures. It was hard choosing as usual! You will notice there's not a lot of scenery pictures. It's because we focused on what interests us the most at the time; relationships and experiences. Maybe next year we'll take more landscapes.

This is great. The guys coming up with a plan on how they're going to swim through the current to get to the rock.

Meanwhile, Chuck was already there. I love this one of him because he's so tough. (Later he jumped in after me and helped Jeremy save me from drowning! I got caught in the current because I wasn't swimming fast enough! Just one more story of me almost drowning to add to the many!)

They made it!

Jer and Mel jumping in the river.

Daddy and Owey.

Everyone decided to go on a hike through Vernal falls. That doesn't sound like my idea of a good time so I stayed back. It was a great choice. Some didn't look too good when they returned. Here's a collage of some that braved the 8 mile hike.

While they were just about to die from heat and exhaustion, Destinie and I were having fun and ice cream with Owen.

I was eye-ing this awesome old truck all day (and since the girls wanted to do something nice after their hike) we went to take pictures by it and in the meadow at sunset.

Owey sandwich!

We had to get our picture by the truck too!

Mike and Meghan being adorable!

I just know he's thinking, "Babe, you're so cute!"

And us by the flowers. It's so fun to set up a picture and have someone else take it, especially when it comes out exactly how you want it! My hair looks fantastic since it was done by a professional, Melody (hairbymelody@yahoo.com)

I like how they mirror the flowers.

This is the fun group we stayed with in the Housekeeping units. I especially want to thank Mark P. for the daily coffee. I couldn't have survived with out it!

Our last night and I'm trying to get some pics with Destinie's camera. But every single one, Jeremy's eyes are closed! Thanks for sending these, Dest!

On our way out of Yosemite, we stopped to take more pictures.
Jeremy got this beautiful shot of Melody and Owen. It's one of my favorites.

Happy family.

We didn't make him do this; he wanted to be in the picture with us. We're his favorites! Take that Schroffs!

We had such an amazing time with our roomies: the Stigmons, Rachunoks and with all of their families and friends! We can't wait for next year!

Las Vegas Extravaganza!

The DWF (Digital Wedding Forum) had a convention in Vegas. But before I went, I found out my favorite comedian, Dane Cook (if you haven't heard of him, you have to check him out, he's hysterical!) was going to be at the Mandalay Bay one night before. They wouldn't let people in with cameras so I have no photos of the show :( but it was worth mentioning!

The very next night was the DWF convention where hundreds of photographers get together to learn and party for the week.
Some of the most amazing photographers (and all my favorites) were there. Here's a list of my absolute favorites:

Becker

Jules Bianchi

Altf

Chinin and Doug Boutwell

Mandy Marie (one of the funnist people in the world to hang out with and I get to 2nd shoot with her this month too!) They are all a huge inspiration to me.)

On the way home from Vegas, we usually stop at Jeremy's with our friends. Not only is it a place to get food and use the restroom but we like to stop there and take pictures of the sign since Jeremy is my husband's name.

Ohio

DISCLAIMER: This is a very large blog. Read at your own risk. This will be full of fun facts about my family that I may only find fascinating!

I went to Ohio (or O-H ten as my Dad calls it) to visit my Dad and my step-mom Patte. I had such a wonderful time. It was just the right amount of relaxation and excitement! Of course I made my Dad some cookies, which is his favorite thing ever! Patte took me thrift store shopping and they're way better than the thrift stores out here. We also had a BBQ with the entire family. We looked through old pictures and I managed to escape with a few really awesome ones. Finally, I have a picture of my Dad from high school where he's not sporting a mustache and/or glasses. I can see how much I look like him!

My Dad Dennis, twin Aunts Carolyn and Marilyn. (Aren't they cute?! ) and Dad with my Uncle Ed.

This is a collage of some of the things I loved about Ohio. The house is my Dad & Patte's that used to be my Grandma and Grandpa's. The room, otherwise known as the "Pepto Bismol Room" is their guest room that my Grandma painted pink. Everyone in the family hates it. But of course Patte and I love it! The fence and trees are behind the house. I love how the trees look in the winter.

My new bestest friend, D-fer. He belongs to my Dad and Patte. My Dad pretends not to like him but we know he loves him.

This is almost all of the family that lives in Ohio. I was so happy that they all got to come to the BBQ. Another fun fact about my family is that there are 3 sets of twins. I have aunt twins, cousins (that are fraternal twins) and 1st cousin once removed twins. Only one fraternal and one identical are in these pictures though! I hope I have twins!

Patte and Daddy with me.

My Dad and Patte took me to Carrilon Park. I got to see a lot of historical items from the Wright brothers. I learned all about how they got their first plane to fly. One of their hobbies was photography and they have the camera that took the photo of their first flight in air. It's the camera below in the collage. I found out many fun facts about Dayton that I never knew!

Carillon Park

We drove by this house with all the flags in the yard. That's not something you see everyday so I took a picture. My Dad told me later that it's a flag for every soldier that has died.

These bears were made with Grandma and Grandpa's old shirts in remembrance of them.

If you want to have one made, please contact Belleene@aol.com. Each bear is unique and really special.
